Statements and motion graphics

Would you like to convince your customers and target group authentically and personally? Then there is usually no way around an interview. In this blog post, we show you how you can set yourself apart from your competitors and why interviews and motion design belong together.

Not just surveys from Hubspot Give the clear picture, you can read (or watch) on virtually all important pages and forums: Video is essential as a medium to convey messages. An interview is a fairly simple way of imparting information. In this way, audiovisual information, backgrounds, structures and much more are conveyed to the viewer. In this short blog post, we primarily try to explain the mix of interview and motion design and show you the advantages.

Our contribution is divided into 3 areas:

  1. The various forms
  2. Interviews and motion design: the combination
  3. The result (with a small teaser)

Interview types

If we want to create an authentic image that is informative, entertaining and likeable, interviews are an excellent tool. Through opinion and expertise, relevance and added value can be gained for the contribution. The viewer therefore receives benefits and is convinced of the expert knowledge.

Interviews come in various forms: as text, as an auditory form, e.g. a podcast, or audiovisually in the form of a video. The big advantage of videos is, of course, that attention is increased by watching and listening. But especially during interviews, it is sometimes difficult for the viewer to follow what has been said and to internalize the content. This often leads to further scrolling and premature termination. Of course, the more interesting and appealing the interviewee shares his knowledge, the longer the viewer is willing to stay on track.

But especially when the expert in front of the camera does not act optimally, it quickly appears unstructured and unprofessional.

It is all the more astonishing that there is still very little work being done with moving graphics and animations in interviews. Especially in today's age of content marketing, where attempts are being made to explain so many aspects and to convey real added value, the two means of interview & motion graphics are not combined.

Interviews and motion design

We have already mentioned the advantages of filmed interviews: authenticity, rapid added value through expertise, a modern form of knowledge transfer.
Motion graphics have 2 other major benefits.

  1. Presentation and structure: Motion graphics also show complex issues in an understandable way. Motion graphics can structure topics and thus help you stay on track.
  2. Appreciation and unique selling point: Motion graphics look modern and attract attention. With their individual design, they make an interview a unique experience

The combination of motion design and interviews therefore leads to the best possible result. It remains authentic and informative, but always keeps a clear structure and the image becomes interesting, modern and varied!

It doesn't always have to be complex

When implementing such a project, there is actually not much to consider in advance. It is of course important that the expert is positioned correctly so that there is still room for the motion graphics. A quieter background can also be an advantage, but it is not mandatory. In principle, a white wall can also be used for neutral monochrome backgrounds. Together with a beautiful guide light and a brightener, you get a good result without much logistical effort. A small mobile studio is a bit nicer and not much more extensive: we hang up the background cardboard on 2 stands and thus have a small hollow throat. This low-reflection background also makes it possible to take pictures of the whole person — from head to toe. This gives us a small studio that requires little space and time.

With this setting, we now have the opportunity to use the appropriate animations for the topic in addition to the person and can establish color schemes with clothing and accessories. In this way, a CI can be integrated without any problems and the focus is sharpened even further.

The concept

For good preparation, it makes sense to record the core messages of the message and to scribble on the image structure of the scenes in a storyboard. We also always create style frames for the most important keypoints (see our blog post on the topic here) to visually prepare ourselves as well as possible and also to decide whether we really need a neutral white/colored background or whether structure is important. This is the only way you can decide well which clothing is useful and fits well and which accessories would be good for the picture (a chair, an armchair, a plant, a glass, special utensils, etc.). In theory, it also works without any further preparatory work (in addition to the normal for such a shoot). However, it usually looks more coordinated and compact with a little planning.

The result

We shot a small example and produced a small teaser for you with simple means.

So you have an authentic expert against a discreet background. With motion graphics, you repeatedly focus on the key messages and help the viewer understand the message in the best possible way through text and graphics. In summary, it can be said: personal and informative. In other words, the best ingredients for a successful public image. That's why interviews and motion design definitely belong together 🙂

We implemented exactly this setting for our customer Plunet some time ago. You can also find the project in our portfolio.
